Thinner picks (.73) with little/no flex?

I typically play Ultex 1.14 triangles on m electric and am pretty pleased with them. I play with a very light touch and find that when playing either my flattop or my sold carved archtop with bronze strings that a thinner pick tends to bring out more volume. I just got some Ultex Tri's in .73 and while they sound fine, and louder as expected, they do flex more than I'm comfortably with. Perhaps in time I can adjust to it. But anyway, my question, is there a common pick material that would be stiffer than Ultex at the same .73 or so thickness?

Although I believe they are Ultex, Prime Tones "seem" less flexible to me.

Ditto! Primetones have .73mm that don’t flex much at all

That's my preference too. I had a bunch of old Gibson Eboneen medium picks that were perfect. When the last one wore out it was a long search and Fender does not come close. I eventually settled on Ultex and Primetone.

Ditto this. If you want to go just a little thicker, the .88 Flows have essentially no flex at all.

GrumbleI play left handed and the primetone picks have a righty speed bevel. Perhaps I’ll try to put a significant bevel on a 1.14

Casein plastic, which most people have never played, would be exactly what you are looking for, unless you have friends with genuine tortoise picks that you could borrow (illegal to sell). I've been experimenting with them all the way down to .60 mm, with no issues. They have that tortoise-like tone but also the rigidity that gives you that great control.

2) For anyone, including the OP, who might want to try casein picks but are looking for a low-cost line to try, the John Pearses are truly great, and are less than $10 each. Strings & Beyond always seems to have a good supply of these.

Bluechip TD35 if you like the ‘teardrop’ shape. You have to ‘special order’ them because the .035” material isn’t on the website in teardrop shape - just call or email and they’ll make one for you. You can stipulate a left-hand bevel.

Expensive, but superb - warm-sounding, hard-wearing, and they don’t slip around in the fingers.

The usual disclaimers apply......IMHO, YMMV etc.

Jaybee, hi, I'm wondering if that particular model is not available where you live, in the UK. In the U.S. it is always the top two or three seller in the company. Here is the direct link, folks. BTW, the TD-35 is equivalent to .90 mm.

.73 Primetone's don't have any bevel. I have a couple and there is not enough there to bevel. They also don't flex.

I use both .73 Primetones and .73 Ultex. The Ultex is stickier, but they do have some flex. .73 Primetones don't have any flex for me.

Aaaahh, thanks Scott - my bad! I have the TD35 which, as you correctly pointed out, is on the website. I also have a TAD35 (the large triangle) which isn’t on the website, and which I had to special-order. I think I must have confused the two - tired old brain again!

Coming from playing thicker picks to playing
thinner. Seems like you will find them all a bit
floppy until you get used to it. I for one seem
to go in the oppusite direction. Gradually moving from
thin to thicker. Ive tried a lot of the boutique pucs but
for the last few years ive used nothing but white fender extra heavys.
After all the messing around with fancy synthetic animal protein two for a hundred buck wonder picks whoda thought id go
back to celluloid 100 for 30 buck picks. but here i am.
99 percent of the stages i play are flat black. If i drop one i can
see it right off.
