Default R.I.P Michael Lang (Woodstock Festival Organizer)

Some people say Rest In Peace. Others are saying Rock in Peace. His vision and work had such a profound impact on so many people. His vision lives on. I feel blessed to have lived at a time when Michael was here.

I was saddened to see this news this morning. Michael Lang was the face of an instant in time that slowly but surely is fading from the collective memory with the passing of every baby boomer. But until we are all gone he will be remembered as a creator of the greatest gathering of like minded people in the twentieth century.
Godspeed, gentle soul.

It was a unique moment in time and perfect storm so to say ( the rain notwithstanding )

The music industry could use some more visionaries

Was he the one with the curly hair and the motorbike? If so, this is yet another reminder of passing youth and mortality. When I saw the film, he really came across - if he is the one - as someone aware of himself at the apex of a counter culture that celebrated youth, freedom and change.

Looks like a 441 Victor
Yes the motorcycle became almost a necessity for transport at Rock Festivals
I ran messages and festival personal on my Triumph Trophy 650 - to and from the stage/HQ area to the parking about a mile away, for Vortex One (the only state sponsored rock festival in history)
And had curly long hair This is a bad frame shot lifted out of a documentary about it (the guy behind me is an organizer, I was just a volunteer worker bee )

His Woodstock story is pretty amazing. I'm saddened by his passing. He's at peace now. Step by step, inch by inch us boomers time is going away. I am extremely glad for growing up in the boomer era. People like him helped make it what it was.
