My gosh guys, this is looking scrumptious! I am thinking this guitar will really tickle the ear drums. Beautiful rosette!

A couple more shots of Jamie’s guitar. This time focusing on the neck.

First shot shows the laminations of Osage outside of an inner center of Cherry. Black stripes set everything off.

We thought this piece of Dalbergia tucarensis went well with the color palette and matched the rosette background.

All drilled up and bound with cherry it looks nice!

We thought some nice Schertler tuners would finish off the look.

Thanks!

Like has been previously mentioned, Jamie is having built a fun guitar from a wood perspective. Because of that, we have determined to keep most of the decorations of the instrument out of wood and in his color palette that has been chosen. We thought in order to play with some of the curves of the rosette, we would use circles in the end graft. Hope you like it.

First we routed the space in the sides for the wedge.

Then I carefully inlaid wooden plugs in a blank of wood.

The Osage Orange, Purpleheart, and Cherry cycle through a couple of times and pop with a little sealer on them.

Shaped and installed.

Thanks for following.

Thanks brother. A few plug cutters can be a dangerous addition to the shop.
But I think Jamie will like this, and the colors work well with that rosette.

Now those cycles are really special and beautiful!

I actually like the coloration the Osage brings to the table, unusual, but good looking. Can't wait to hear how it sounds!

Thanks much, Tom! Just about the time one thinks "It's all been done" a new idea strikes. Of course, I subscribe to the truth that there is nothing new under the sun, so I'm sure this has been done somewhere, by somebody. Still, it's new for us.

Thanks Ernesto, glad you stopped by. Also glad you like the color. Of course, Osage offers more than color, it taps beautifully. But the first thing that strikes you about this wood is that color. Wow, what was the tree thinking?!

Love the idea ... and the colors fit the theme to a tee!

You guys never cease to amaze. Jamie has got to be really excited.

Thanks again Dennis, for the kind support. You know it was your (1st) OM that sorta got the colored wood idea percolating. I think Jamie said at least something like that. As for excited, there are some upcoming elements that had us all breathless for a while.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments on Steve and Ryan’s artistry. I have been slow to respond as we in the Bay Area of California are currently acting out a scene from The Day After Tomorrow.

Yes, Dennis, I am super excited...and thinking it is probably a good thing the guitar is not yet in my house. Power is out, humidity is currently about 10 percent outside, and we are on major fire alert.

Thanks Steve, that’s very kind of you. We are safe so far, and in a lot better situation than folks directly in the path of the Kincaid Fire. Fire risk is the flip side of being lucky enough to live in a very special spot surrounded by open space.
