Default An eureka moment for me

I realized that some of the brushing sound I was getting in my recordings sometimes coincided with when I used headphones to monitor the input gain of my Zoom H5. The brushing sound was coming from the headphone cord rubbing against me. I ran the cord under my shirt, then connected the ends to the Zoom and headphones.

Duh.

Yep, I hear ya! When that headphone cord just taps the guitar while playing you can hear it as a "crack".....very unsettling!! :-) All kinds of little technique for us home recorders!!!

One of the best accessories you can buy for home recording is a nice long headphone extension cord.

It's really quite liberating to bring your phones in from behind you so you don't end up having a bunch of those "oops..." moments.

There are a LOT of these little tips that seem so obvious, but actually take a bit of time before you start accumulating them.

There should be a Newbie to home recording "ATQTYNTTA"...

(Answers to questions that you never thought to ask...)

Yes - the long extension is a great thing to have...along with gaffer's tape. Secure anything that can be a problem before you hit record. Gaffer's tape is great because it holds well, but comes off without leaving residue behind.
