Saw that - some very striking veneers.
I do like that cocobolo. Well, as a veneer. I used to do some wood turning a couple decades ago... I called it crackobolo... I broke more than I completed. I like it better when encased in epoxy with carbon fiber. |

I went to the Emerald site and did not find the new veneers. I did find that strange.

Captain;
Thank you. I don't do Facebook so I guess I'll wait till the veneers show up on the Emerald site. It seems to me that the site should be the first viewing, but maybe Facebook has the bigger audience? |

Crab;
Thank you, I've been looking forward to the new batch of veneers. I did wood work for 40 years and never saw a collection of veneers like the one Alistair has amassed. Pretty incredible. |

Dang, this batch of veneers has pushed me over the edge. I just can't help myself. I'm pulling the trigger on a custom X20 Woody. I may need help here developing my idea, so i'll start a thread on this build.
In the mean time, what are your 2 favorite veneers? |

Very cool veneers. He's really doing something amazingly different with these guitars.
Alistair is a friend of a friend. I got a chance to go to his shop in Ireland some years ago on my honeymoon. This was back in 2005. At the time, he was building children's playground equipment and the guitar thing seemed rather small. It's so good to see his guitar business just taking off and he is now one of the main players. He is a super nice guy and he had some really cool stuff going on. I remember seeing his alien guitar thing during construction. I really was amazed at the craftsmanship and imagination. I would recommend if anyone ever gets up to Northern Ireland... go take a look at his shop. |

Mr. K;
I, too, have had the pleasure of a visit by Alistair and sometimes think about heading his way. Maybe we could ride-share? Or go by Ubber? If we wait a bit we can go by the new Concord in about 3 1/2 hours--probably faster than if you drive. |
