Default Hot B Follow-up EQ question

I have heard that although the hot B is what it is, it can be somewhat dialed out with a bit of EQ work. For those who have had success with it, what frequencies have you cut/boost to help?

I don't know anything about EQ settings, but have you tried the metal shields fix yet ? Perhaps it would eliminate the need to dial in an electronic fix. The shields are very easy to make and install, and they become almost invisible when painted black with a magic marker. If they are applied with double-sided masking tape, they are easy to remove and leave no trace (that I know of).
