Martin Custom Shop: CS 000-41-15...........SOLD
"Masterpiece from Martin Custom Shop. 1 of 75 built in 2015, seemingly to show off to custom craft luthiers and the world what the Custom Shop could build. The Custom Shop series is the brainchild of Fred Greene, Martin’s Chief Product Officer. Its primary concept is to combine elements of established Martin designs with non-traditional materials, progressive technology, and aesthetics to realize unique musical instruments of the highest caliber.
The CS-00041-15 is perhaps the most successful at realizing Greene’s vision of Martins that in every respect match the most exclusive of boutique guitars, if not surpass them. The Martin CS-00041-15 is a short-scale 000 with 1/4″ bracing scalloped in the manner of the Golden Era/Marquis series, like the 000-18GE and 000-42 Marquis. Having thinner, lighter, OM-style bracing counters the reduction in string tension that comes with a short-scale neck. This liberates the voice so that it sounds more like an expansive long-scale Orchestra Model than a typical punchy short-scale 000. And yet, this guitar does not sound exactly like any other OM or 000. This guitar has hide glue construction and a build that is lighter overall than even the guitars of the Authentic series. It is therefore that much more responsive to vibration and less tolerant of being over-driven. But being made with a back and sides of dense cocobolo, it has a marvelous presence glowing out from deep down within the voice, even when played most tenderly. The usual cocobolo heaviness has been shaved away by the lighter build, so it never sounds nor feels too thick or muffled, yet still it contributes much in the way of bottom-end warmth and harmonic complexity. Some of that refinement is likely due to the clarity and chime of the Adirondack spruce soundboard, which has itself been opened up by the revolutionary Vintage Tone System, or VTS, Martin’s propriety version of wood torrefaction. An ancient technique applied through modern science, torrefaction uses natural processes of high heat in a low oxygen setting to alter the molecular structure of a spruce top until it behaves, and sounds, like wood that had been seasoned for decades. MSRP on this guitar was $9,999 in 2015, the only year made (75 total built) Link to in depth review: http://onemanz.com/guitar/reviews/ac...s/cs-00041-15/ LIKE NEW PRICE $6,500 plus shipping (SOLD Pending receipt of balance owed) Martin CS 000-41-15 (1) by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/156597327@N06/] Martin CS 000-41-15 (2) by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/156597327@N06/] Martin CS 000-41-15 (3) by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/156597327@N06/] Martin CS 000-41-15 (4) by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/156597327@N06/] Martin CS 000-41-15 (5) by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/156597327@N06/] Martin CS 000-41-15 (6) by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/156597327@N06/] Martin CS 000-41-15 (9) by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/156597327@N06/] Martin CS 000-41-15 (10) by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/156597327@N06/] Martin CS 000-41-15 (11) by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/156597327@N06/] Martin CS 000-41-15 (17) by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/156597327@N06/] Martin CS 000-41-15 (18) by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/156597327@N06/] Martin CS 000-41-15 (19) by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/156597327@N06/] Martin CS 000-41-15 (22) by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/156597327@N06/] Martin CS 000-41-15 (26) by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/156597327@N06/] Martin CS 000-41-15 (27) by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/156597327@N06/] Guitar Martin CS 000-41-15 Bracing on Top X bracing Case Martin Original Martin Custom Shop hard shell case Cutaway No Total Length 39 3/4" Body Length 19 5/16" Upper Bout 11 7/16" Waist 9 13/32" Lower Bout 15 3/16" Body Depth 3 1/4" to 4 1/16" Nut Width 1 3/4", 1.75", 44.45mm Spacing@Bridge 2 3/16" FingBrd Radius 16" Scale 24.9" / 24 29/32" / 632.46mm Electronics No Fingerboard Flamed Koa binding, ribbon/concave square design with abalone MOP & mahogany Finish Polished gloss Frets to Neck 14 Frets Total 20 Inlays Style 41, abalone with black/maple/black purfling on top, black/maple/black on side, black/maple/black and multi piece EI Rosewood and mahgoany tapered ribbon inlay on back and headstock to match Luthier Martin Custom Shop (1 of 75) Luthier Website martinguitars.com Neck Truss Rod Carbon fibre truss rod Nut Bone Pickguard Delmar tortoise Rosette Style 45 abalone circle with purflings Saddle 16" radius compensated bone saddle Serial # 1,865,462 Shape OOO Tuners Schaller Gold Grand Tuners with Oval Flamed Koa Buttons Where Made Nazareth, Pennsylvania Back Cocobolo Binding Highly Flamed Koa Bridge Solid Black Ebony with drop in saddle Headstock Mahogany with cocobolo overlay and inlay Neck Mahogany with cocobolo overlay and inlay Sides Cocobolo Top VTS (Vintage Tone System) Torrefied Adirondack Spruce Year Made 2015

Here's one I can weigh in on. I used to own this specific instrument before Bruce, and I spent many hours enjoying it both visually and sonically.
There was a period of time I was in the hunt for a 000/OM pearl top Martin and went through quite a few until I eventually stumbled onto this Custom Shop beauty. I began the search with a slew of standard 000-42 and OM-42 Martins and found them to be very good, but still lacking the magic "it". They were all quite consistent in sound and playability and were fine instruments. I next purchased four 000-42 Marquis guitars, three stock issue and one custom version. They were considerably better than the standard 000-42. More thump, better woods. Sold them all hoping to find better. Maybe. Bought an OM-41 Special and really enjoyed the instrument. Very smooth and responsive. Eventually sold it to continue the quest for pure Unobtanium. Then I found this CS 000-41-15. The best of all by a wide margin. Gorgeous woods and construction. As perfect a build as I have ever encountered. Really straight Cocobolo and perfect Adirondack. Just an amazing guitar in almost all ways. Great bass and sparkling highs. Easy playability and a joy to uncase. Condition is nearly mint. At about the same time, I was offered a guitar of a lifetime and had almost no choice but to sell nearly every guitar I owned including this CS in order to buy the "Holy Grail". (More on this instrument in the weeks to come! Eating is so overrated!) Bruce is now offering here what I think is one of the finest Custom Shop offerings at a great price. He's a great guy to work with and knows his high end guitars. Deal in complete confidence. Someone is going to have the most amazing modern pearl Martin with this purchase! Hope this helps any fence sitters. Jump now. John Last edited by kiva238; 04-26-2018 at 11:13 AM. Reason: photo |

What can I say except.. wow.. stellar looking instrument.
I think it's good for Martin to do these runs every once in a while, so people know they've still "got it" .. i think it's easy to take Martin for granted, if that makes any sense, even with their fantastic regular line.. anyways.. good luck with the sale, I'm sure this will make someone very happy!! I'm curious about the spiral back design.. is it strips of wood that are inlaid like a binding or backstrip would be? forgive my ignorance on this aspect; I can't quite tell from the pictures, exactly the nature of the design.. it is of course beautiful and I don't see any other way they'd do it, other than that, but dont see how they could make it appear such an accurate spiral that way. really somethin' else. Anyway. if you could shed a little light (or some close-ups) on the helix design, that would be great, but of course it's not necessary as I'm not an actual buyer.. of course wish I were.. anyway, cheerio! have a great weekend.

upon a closer 2nd exam of the spec sheet, I do see now where it says it's a multi-piece "tapered ribbon" of mahog. and EIR. didnt catch it in there the first time.
Very aesthetically pleasing, if you look at the shading they achieved on it, almost as if there were actual light playing upon it from an angle. Marvelous. I'm sure the sound is right there with it. anyway, thanks again, just wanted to let you know I saw the physical description, but still curious of the dynamic of how they physically did it

Martin Custom Shop 000-41-15.........just like new.
Very strange that this guitar has not been purchased. I got an offer last night and sent an acceptance but havent heard back. I havent bumped this one up as I love the build, tone and beauty so much that I decided I was fine with keeping it. But, the offer made me realize that, at 22 guitars, I really should share the wealth.
It's amazing.
