Combine the Rosewood with a thin separating strip of the cherry as an accent.

Default ‘Ugly Koa’ bindings?!

For the last week I have been playing the snot out of my first Kinnaird: what Steve called at the time ‘Koa-on-Koa’ complete (after contrasting dark and light purfling) with Koa bindings. Perhaps that was the cause for my somewhat visceral vote for Koa bindings.

By the way, it is really not good to let snot build-up in your most prized guitars. Just FYI.

How ‘bout some ever-so-subtle purpleheart and holly purfing with ‘Tom’s cherry bindings!?’

Careful asking me opinions tho, cuz I always have more than one. No you don’t. And mom always liked me Best. No she didn’t.

Caution: guitar schizophrenia syndrome can bleed over into the rest of your life. That’s Not true. Who said?

Late to the party as usual...I'm not a CPA, but my business is too crazy this time of the year and getting tax time put to bed is a gift of some free time. So...if it isn't too late for a vote, I'd go with the darker as well as I like the contrast of it. But...some of that depends on the purfling around it. Personally I don't like binding that just blends into the back and sides, I like something to make it stand out. The Cherry could be really sweet with some darker purfling...dark enough to make it stand out from the Koa.

I agree with all of the above, I picked the cherry this time as the darker bindings for contrast are pretty commonly selected and does frame the guitar quite nicely. Sometimes though, like with this Koa, I don't like that look as to me it draws a little from the back and sides themselves and with slightly less contrast the guitar takes on a more earthy organic vibe where all the colors seem to be in the same family, but slightly different.

Not that anyone really cares, but that was my thought process lol.

Seems like I’m going with Cherry with a dark purfling line. Thanks everyone for helping out.

Great decision! This is why we keep you around! Oh yeah and you build ‘em great too! (Still can’t get over C.C.’s...I haven’t raved yet...still can’t find the words! ‘Speechless’ is not like me, as you know!)

It would be nice to go with something to pull out that brown in the koa. If it was my build I might consider Peruvian walnut binding with maple purfling lines. Unless you had Osage orange. A walnut, Osage purfling next to Peruvian binding would work nicely. IMHO
