One group I like is The Go-Betweens, Australian group that never got much attention. The album "Oceans Apart" (2005) stands out. An older song "Streets of your Town" occasionally got some airplay.
Great recommendation. The Go-Betweens is one of those bands that I feel should have been bigger than they were. I was late to them and only discovered them through The Friends of Rachel Worth, their collaboration with Janet Weiss/Sleater-Kinney. I listened to that album obsessively, and later discovered Oceans Apart as an equally fantastic album.

Thanks for reminding me of these guys.

Here are some albums that I would have to have if I were stuck on a desert island:

Blood on the Tracks by Bob Dylan
Sundown by Gordon Lightfoot
Astral Weeks by Van Morrison
Acoustic Classics by Richard Thompson

I used to go and see the Housemartins at a little local club called the Riverside when I was about 17 - my great friend at the time got to know Paul Heston quite well and even met his parents (Horris and Doris!)
