Lots of great singers being mentioned, but I'd definitely have to say Jeff Buckley...

Gregg Allman would be my first choice, but, Ronnie Van Zant would be a close second.

So many good voices mentioned. I'd add two of my favorites: Glenn Frey and Paul McCartney.

No Petty, Bono, Jagger, Dylan, or that guy from 3 Dog Night?

Just wonderin'. I'm still sticking with Ryan Adams.

I was ready to say Ray Charles, Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, etc... but thought I'd add a younger name. I would love to be able to sing like this young man (he's really good on the guitar too):

Beautiful! Thanks for sharing. I’m glad to have heard that.

Edit: I’ve been watching this vid a bunch of times and playing along with it. Very touching...I assume a tribute to his departed Mom. Such a simple song musically, a chord progression that’s been done a thousand times. Yet, the quality and distinctiveness of the vocal and melody makes it new again. Just wonderful! Yeah, I’d like to sing like that.

My wife says he’d been a recent contestant on The Voice, runner-up in 2019. Whatever, he’s really good.

Blood On The Tracks era Bob Dylan. (Do I get his catalog of songs too?) 😀

Oh lordy that made me laugh. Kotke was my starting playing hero. One of the greatest compliment I ever had was to be compared with him. But yes, Leo was extremely self-deprecating. I did not think it was THAT bad, although one could not say he sang like an angel.

I lean towards Bruce Cockburn. I would love to be able to sing like him.

Thanks Tom. Yeah, Ricky Duran is a talented young man with a soulful, older than his years voice. Plus, he sounds a little like Hendrix on the Stratocaster! I hope that he has a big future.

I really don’t mean to sound braggadocios, but if I could have any voice it would be my own from 40 years ago.

I’ve always had great pitch, great natural vibrato on demand and good range. But I could hit highs like crazy back then. 4+ decades of singing, drinking and other assorted vices has mellowed my vocals but taken away those wonderful high notes.

Wouldn’t do anything differently, though....
