Ever been to the Chet Atkins Convention in Nashville?
A family friend of ours has been trying to get me to go to the Chet Atkins convention for the last several years, and I think I might try to go in 2019. Have any of you gone? What did you think?

That would be fun! But it is quite a drive from Idaho, and I'm still not retired.

I've been there. Worth attending at least once. It kind of depends on the music you're into. There are shows of some kind going on almost all the time, as well as workshops in the side rooms. Heavily focused on "Chet" type players, as you'd expect (and Tommy Emanuel is usually there, and usually onstage a hefty percentage of the time, either solo, or backing someone else, etc), tho sometimes someone with a totally different style shows up. Tony McManus has been there, Juber (I think - not the year I was there, tho), Adam Rafferty. The exhibits are things like old Chet records, sheet music, some guitar makers, like Kirk Sands. It struck me as a little odd that it's out in the outskirts of town in a hotel, far from the downtown music scene, so it has the feel of a corporate conference. But downtown Nashville's a short drive, so there's that as well.

I've never been, but I work across the street from the hotel it's hosted at. There's always a big crowd, and I've heard nothing but good things about it.
