Good first scouting. This is a nice addition to the field of CF guitars. Thank you.

I saw this as well. Looks like a pretty cool concept, especially the monocoque construction. I was a little surprised at the wood (flamed maple) fretboard, and it lists pretty high (I believe it was in the $4k range). And no truss rod; not a deal-breaker, but something I'd like to see at that cost.

Very nicely done indeed - a nice balance of tradition and innovation.

Lots of competition in that $4k area of the electric guitar market, though, and those buyers (I believe) are as much die-hard traditionalists (i.e. luddites ) as the acoustic equivalent.

I guarantee that there will be a YouTube or Facebook thread out there soon (if there isn't already) with someone claiming it 'sounds like plastic'.

The wood fretboard will react differently to humidity and temperature changes than the neck itself. While this is not necessarily a bad thing, it will make the guitar go out of tune just as any wood guitar. It may even be worse because of the difference in materials.
Aristides guitars changed their fretboards to richlite for that reason.

That's a good point. Also if you leave it out all the time like a composite guitar, the fretboard will shrink and the fret ends will stick out. Not trying to be critical it's just the way it is. They should've used richlite or something else for the fretboard IMO. Still a nice find though!

Only if you have a low humidity issue...

Yes, of course! Most of us ventured into carbon fiber due to humidity issues. I'm sure some have other reasons. I know if I left that guitar out where I live I'd be filing down fret ends in no time.

I would guess that a Richlite fretboard will be an available option very early, assuming there are enough sales to keep the model in production.

I emailed the maker about the fretboard. Here's his reply:

"We paint the fretboard with a clear coat and give it a satin finish just before pressing the frets in, so it’s completely sealed and can’t absorb moisture once it goes out the door.

Honestly, we went with the maple for two main reasons: (1) because we really like the look; and (2) because we thought it would be a bit more familiar to guitar players. Our approach is to only change things from what is “typical” when we think we can actually make a significant difference to the player’s experience, not just at every opportunity.

I hope this doesn’t come across as me saying one option is necessarily better than the other, it is just the reasoning behind our decision."

I love some well-seasoned wodo.

My real name is in my signature. Many, many years ago, I worked with someone who couldn't type my last name to save his life. 'eatswodo' was the best variant he ever came up with, and I've been a hobbit ever since.

Thank you, Steve
