Default PSA on Room Acoustics

Here is a link some free articles and video's about Recording Studio Acoustics on the Production Expert website . Most of which applies to home studio's as well
I have not actually reviewed them all but have found Production Expert and its specific DAW related blogs, to be very valuable sources of info.

The picture of foam made me shake my head a bit but he does note in at least one of the articles that foam isn't a good solution. Like a lot of people, I wasted money and went that route at one time.

The 'towel absorbers' video was umm.. interesting... Can't imagine a lot of people having dozens of old towels available to make it viable - new towels are not cheap, and as described, the 2" thickness is limiting.. I have always read that the cover material on broadband traps should be porous enough to let the sound waves through (not reflect back) so a good way to judge that was if you could breathe through the material. I used burlap for my first batch of traps, cotton sheets for the second batch.

Porosity is not as important for bass, or even mid-frequency trapping. Some folks cover the rockwool with a thin plastic film, e.g., thinnest "dropcloth" you can buy, if they are worried about particles (I'm not). Windows actually can function as bass traps, though, unfortunately, they work both ways!

I built all my panels. It does require access to a miter or table saw, IMO, because cutting good, square joints on a lot of panels is very hard to do by hand. And access to rockwool or denser material locally, because the shipping for that stuff can add up.
