And, you thought stringing a GUITAR was hard!
Our daughter's lacrosse stick needed a repair. Women's sticks cannot use mesh like men's do: they must be "traditionally strung" with individual strings.
My wife, who overestimates my abilities, says "you can string a guitar. You can figure it out." I guess she was right, but man oh man, I wish it was as simple as stringing my 12-string (while blindfolded and wearing oven mitts).

Why do they saddle our poor girls with archaic rules like that? They should all be wearing helmets like the boys too.

This stringing method and the dimensions limit the ball speed. Their worry (as I understand it) is if the girls wear helmets they will make it into a contact sport and have MORE injuries. Girls can opt to wear soft helmets now. When we started gloves were forbidden (even just liners on a winter day!) because that would give one girl an advantage over another for physical contact and the OTHER girsl could get more hurt. Girls can wear soft gloves now. So, its slowly changing. But it is absolutely archaic.

Sounds sexist. Girls are just as physically capable of playing under the same rules as anyone. Seems like archaic thinking IMO. YMMV
