Default Osthoff builds for the Artisan Guitar Show

I am still wrapping up the builds for the Artisan Guitar show coming up this week. I hope to take some more photos before the show, but here is a quick shot from a couple of weeks ago.

  • A16-Archtop ~ Euro Spruce/Maple
  • OM ~ All Koa, Turquoise appointments
  • 0-12 ~ Addy/Mahogany
  • SJ ~ Cedar/Macassar Ebony, Ryan-style Bevel

I was restringing the all-koa OM late this afternoon and as I was pulling the ebony pins with mother of pearl dots it all of sudden occurred the pins should have turquoise dots not MOP. Now they do.

(I do plan to dust the guitar off before the show)

They look great, can't wait to see them in person. Is the trapeze tailpiece a new design for you?

I look forward to catching up with you Bill.

On the A16 regarding the tailpiece it was redesigned, although I have another (possible) refinement on the books. That refinement won't get applied to this A16, but the next one might see it. It is a subtle change, more of a process thing. Thanks for asking.

Thanks, I got into making my own tuner buttons and made the set of turquoise, buttons. Then I made the guitar to go around them.

Here are a couple more shots.

I forgot that had taken a couple of shots of the SJ. I hope to get a few better ones, but here are a couple:

And speaking of tuner buttons, these are Macassar Ebony as are the back/sides, binding, bevel, headstock overlays, binding, fretboard and bridge.

Beautiful guitars John and I love the subtle lines on the custom tuner buttons. You are really showcasing your skills there!

That turquoise really offsets the Koa beautifully. And that is a remarkable set of Koa. It sure will steal the show.

Just taking a little break, but after that it is back to the shop to get some done. At least this year the finish is dry.
