Default 1 13/16 nut fingerstyle guitar

Figured I’d test the waters here again, finally recovered some funds to make this happen. Prefer 2 5/16 bridge spacing, not so much 2 1/4. More into modern builds than vintage style. Cutaway okay, 14-fret only, just prefer 15.5”-16” lower bout and body depth less than 4.75”. Not into small-body builds or short-scale currently.

Email is [email protected], thanks AGF!

1 & 13/16" nut width indicates a 12 fret.
Standard on Martin style "00" guitars with 2 & 5/16" string spacing, 24.9 scale body width of 14.125-14.25"

If you want a wider guitar - the 000 is 15" but with standard scale and " & 3/8" S/S.
The Collings 000 also has a 1 & 13/16" and the Martin is, I think 1 & 7/8"

No offense, but you are looking at the world through Martin colored glasses. There are plenty of modern fingerstyle guitars out there that meet the criteria Dustin mentioned. In no way does a 1 13/16" nut limit you to a 12 fret, or a small bodied guitar. I've seen Doerr & Bamburg beauties that match this description. Happy hunting!

No affiliation with seller...
This checks some boxes, not all. Probably smaller body than you want. Super cool build, though.

Silly's just not conditioned to offerings on this side of the pond probably - we are lucky to have so much to choose from.

Petros is another builder who does 1 13/16 pretty regularly.

Dustin and I have the exact same taste!

I'm with Todd and Dustin: 1-13/16 and 2-5/16 are ideal for me.

Dustin, have you done a spec search via Guitar Gallery? They make it easy to sort by nut width, etc. It's super useful. I wish Dream Guitars and Luthier's Collection would do something similar.

I know "mikealpine" on this forum has been sitting on a beautiful fingerstyle concert built by Chris Ensor. It was for sale at one time, & I believe he still has it. A little persuasion might bring it out again! I'm pretty sure its 1 13/16 X 2 5/16. It's 15" lower bout, so might not fit the criteria. https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...r+Concert+2013

This might be of interest. I’ve only played one Lakewood but it was excellent. This price is super and the makeup of the guitar seems right in line with what you’re looking for but not sure if the saddle spacing.

I have no affiliation, I just notified it several months ago and would have bought it if it had a narrower nut.

Hi Dustin, how much are you thinking to spend? There's a Greven on Reverb that I'd buy in a heartbeat if it weren't for the extra-wide, 1.85" nut width. https://reverb.com/item/20428273-gre...oustic-natural I'm not affiliated with the seller in any way. But I kind of wish someone would buy it to remove that temptation from me! For a Greven it's a very good price.

No offence taken, as you are quite correct.

I am of course aware of the British style designs, but not of either Messrs Doerr or Bamburgh.

So, if we are looking at this style of instrument, then perhaps I should mention Richard Osborne

http://www.osborneguitars.co.uk

Nick Benjamin.
http://www.benjaminguitars.co.uk

and of course Stefan Sobell

http://www.sobellguitars.com

Hope this helps.

I little left-field-ish, but I'd recommend checking out a Santa Cruz D12. I love mine, and play fingerstyle on it constantly.

Your nut width is more narrow than 1 3/4 - he's looking for 1 13/16 which is wider

Thank you SO MUCH everyone for the replies and offerings, am looking for more of a modern fingerstyle guitar vs. Martin/Gibson influenced, also probably not going for any guitar’s less that 15.25” wide or more than 16”. I know that’s a pretty small dimple in the world of fine acoustic guitars, but this forum came through for me a few months ago so thought it was worth a second shot!! Thank you!
