Default I have one of these

https://www.guitarplayer.com/miscell...ion-vxt-hybrid

These have an 1 11/16" nut but feel wider because of the generous neck carve. Mine feels like a Hamer electric, and sounds like an ES-335 due to the chambering.
The larger body sits more like an acoustic than electric when played sitting.

Default Electric suggestions

Thanks for the input gents.

OK, thinlines preferred. I have no interest in getting into solid bodies, Stats, Tele's, etc. I don't know much about pickups, so just general rhythm use, slightly jazz oriented.

"Fat necks that feel wider..." don't really work, unfortunately. I've tried them and the issue is not enough room between strings for my fat fingers and they mute the strings adjacent to the ones I'm trying to fret.

Epiphone Dot would be perfect but I've never seen one with 1 3/4" or wider.

As I've not had good luck in the past I'm not going to sink a lot of money into this, used in the $300-400 range is about all I'm willing to go. Also, I've never bought a guitar that I haven't played, so I'm going to have to just keep my eyes open and see what I trip over in the stores.

The only effects will be the reverb and chorus on my Loudbox Mini. I'm not going to get into pedals and other effects.

Never heard of B&G, but what I've found on the iNet seems that they are all 1.68" nut width. Same with Godin's. Great guitars but I haven't seen wider nut widths on those.

The Eastmans look like a good fit. I'll definitely watch the used rack for them

I know that I'm being picky, but this isn't a must have for me. If I find one that fits the bill, I'll give it a try. If I never find one, I'm ok with that too.

Default Godin 5th Avenue Kingpin P90

This guitar is a cheap plywood box, has ONE pickup but the tone is exquisite! It's no 335 or Gretsch, but find the right strings and the undertaker will have to pry this guitar from your cold dead hands...to steal a quote.

String it with flatwounds for jazz...

...or roundwounds for 'other' stuff.

Also available in black or natural finish...

The Godin Kingpin is a good choice for transitioning from acoustic to electric, I am very attached to mine. But eventually you will want a telecaster and won't get sent to heck for putting flatwound 12's on it.

My first electric was and still is a Samick Greg Bennett Royale thin line semi. (Stunningly good for the money). Mine's the RL2 model in a classy burgundy red.

Not in production anymore but I'm sure you can still get them. (Second hand maybe). Great reviews and amazing guitars.

Suggest starting at the RL2 model if you do go down this path.

Lots of options either way!

Good luck!

Gibson ES, in your choice of size, would be cool.
Ibanez has a number of good options.
Personally, for a more or less hollow guitar, the B&G Guitars 'Little Sister', or the slightly more budget version 'Little Sister Crossroads', looks really tempting.

... and yes. Your amp, and any effect pedals that you might have, are half your sound. I happen to enjoy plugging straight into an amp.
I used to be a loyal Tele player and gave up electric guitars a few years ago.
I happened upon the B&G website and really liked the "Ceders Of Lebonon" guitar they made. Shortly thereafter someone gave me a Seymour Duncan '59 bucker and I put together this single bucker influenced obviously by B&G. I absolutely love this guitar and find the range of tone from the single bucker pretty astounding. I put it together for testing and I've liked playing it so much that I STILL haven't taken it down to do the final finish application!

I have an Epiphone Les Paul standard with the "fat fifties" neck, At the nut it measures 1 3/4" according to my Starrett precision caliper. It is the widest neck of all of my electric guitars. Look for one of these ( or the Gibson if you have an extra 3k laying around.

Again, depending on how much you're able to spend...if you're looking for a 1 3/4" nut on an electric, take a look at the Rickenbacker 660. It has that nut width and really phenomenal sounding 60's re-issue 'toaster-top" single coils. I have the 12-string version...fantastic player, iconic tones.

They are not cheap though...new one probably set you back about $2500...closer to $1500 used.

Here's a used 660 six-string on Reverb, asking $1795...

On the "Private Builds" 1.75" is an option, but that is much more money.
