No cutaway. I'm a "purist."

I can take or leave a cutaway. I think they look good on dreads even though I probably prefer the traditional look of a full body dread.

I wouldn’t it let it deter me from an otherwise great sounding D18 or 28.

Since people get so up in arms about dreads with cutaways, here’s a pic of one of my favorite guitars.(not a Martin). I love it, but a lot of people really tend to hate it.

This. There’s a lot of cool voicings way up there

That’s the Garth Brooks signature model Takamine.

I used to have a cutaway acoustic. I sold it. None of my current herd has a cutaway. I would consider another one, but only if side by side tests with the non cutaway model showed no tone or volume loss.

My Altamira M20D has a cutaway. On a Sel-Mac inspired gypsy jazz guitar it seems fine. But I don't care for a cutaway on any other guitars. Even on my 12 frets I don't feel like I want or need a more accessible upper fret range.

I always assumed that once I got a cutaway guitar that I would take advantage of the upper frets more than I did. I had several pieces where I bumped up against the upper bout to reach some of those notes.

But when I finally got a cutaway I discovered that I didn’t care much for the timbre of the notes up that high, and I didn’t play lots more upper reach songs. Anything I do on guitar can be done with a 14 fret body join.

So after I traded off my cutaway guitar I didn’t replace it with another one, and haven’t owned one since.

I generally like the fret accessibility and aesthetics of cutaways. The exceptions are dreadnoughts. I absolutely dislike their looks.

Most people would like to have non-cutaway Martin, but I like to have cutaway personally for both appearance and more accessible of high fret.

Only way I would have a cutaway is if it were given to me.....or....a truly low price for a good sounding guitar. Just no desire for them, yes because I like the normal look.

If I could get a standard Martin with a cutaway and a 1.75" nut without paying a stupid amount, I'd be happy.

Some shapes lend themselves to having cutaways, some do not.
Dreadnoughts do not IMO. They are butt-ugly.

Though I don't have, or want, a cutaway acoustic guitar, I will say that around the 00 size/shape...they look OK.

I do not like D style cut away guitar. My son has a Martin 000 16 with a cut away that looks balanced and I like the look of that guitar. Both of my electrics have a single cut away (Archtop and Tele) and they work for all of my needs.
