Default US VW van reveal.

The US version of the van was finally revealed today. We're in queue to get the next gen Tacoma and I think we'll do it for this too.

Two points of disappointment are steering wheel controls still look like touch/haptic and side sliding door windows don't go down. The positive is dual motor and I can see liking a van every day more than a pickup.

Too bad there's no adaptive cruise and AEB retrofit for the van we have now and the year+ wait to get a Sienna XSE. There's no price info on this or Tacoma yet. I'm sure both will bother me. We're not exactly angelic perfect spenders, but if not travel usually do that with things that last longer than cars.

I think it's great. I don't think I'll be buying another vehicle in my lifetime. At least that was the plan.

I'd be interested in one but they are starting at 45k apparently - just can't do that for a vehicle.

I wish some maker would come out with a smaller (this one is XL only) hybrid or EV van that is just stripped inside except for the two front seats.

I'd like to have something like for that for taking off across the country by myself.

It looks really funky. Kind of like something from the "Cars" cartoon movie. What a fun looking vehicle!

Cool. I like it. For me vehicles are like guitars, I can't own them all.

I quite like this modern take on the old bus. Back in the early ‘70s I almost bought a ‘70 VW bus in terrific condition. It’s the only vehicle I’ve regretted not buying. We’re not due for a vehicle and I tend to buy used 2-3 years old. Among others I’ll consider used in a few years, this will be one.

Not me. VW may have been able to win me over with a European VW California camper, but this van destined for US shores just reminds me of a miniature Oscar Meyer Weinermobile....

I’m really liking it in the pics and think it would be a load of fun. My first car was a ‘70 microbús. Bought it new at the duty free shop at the airport in Amsterdam. Totally stripped down version. Only had interior panels and flooring in the front. Fixed up the interior and had it til there was only scrap metal. Drove it all over Europe, shipped back to Baltimore, and about 10 yrs later, gave it away. Many fine memories including 3 round trip coast to coast trips across the US. Will be watching.

Agreed, but not in the same sense...

The original microbus was a party room on wheels, cost nothing and could be fixed with a 10mm wrench. The eVersion has none of those characteristics. I'll pass.
