Default Syrupy Love Songs

I was thinking about some of the pop love songs over the years that I find unlistenable and icky. I thought I would start a “fun” thread and allow the membership to offer up some of your most “unfavorites.
Many of mine have yucky lyrics and are yucky tunes too.
Remember, it’s all in good fun.
Hers a few starters…

Yeah, but sometimes the lady in your life likes them.

I learned these just for that reason.

My Girl
Love Me Tender
Wonderful Tonight

thanks, Rokdog! Sure beats reading various persuasive views on artificial intelligence.

#2 on your list "Sentimental Lady" reminded me immediately of an Adam Sandler movie "Grownups" where Rob Schnieder refers to this song as being on the top of his "get some ____ playlist." Always makes me laugh!

Syrupy or not, but definintely pop and cringe worthy in my book is "Jessie's Girl"....

There is one that I enjoy playing because I like the musical part of it, but the lyrics are just flat out sappy; consequently I’ve never played it in public: Diary by David Gates.

'Honey' is the type of song my father would listen to constantly over and over. Here's another one..

Default Syrupy Love Songs

I’d listen to all the songs that have been listed on loop if I never had to hear this song again:
Muskrat Love

Wonderful Tonight

Many here probably differ, which is okay. But I find it boring to hear and even more-so to play. A favorite anecdote therein (that I've suspected for years and recently confirmed reading Clapton's autobiography) is the author's assertion that the song took 10 minutes to "create itself" in frustration and anger while he waited and waited for his wife to get ready to go out. "It's late in the evening..." I love it.

"See the tree how big it's grown . . . "

" . . . twice on the pipe (bink bink) . . . "

"If you like pina co . . . "

I have to agree that Wonderful Tonight is saccharine dirge.

This by Chris de Burgh is very similar.

Yes, Wonderful Tonight is awful.

But the 8+ minute live version is even worse If I' m told I have 8 minutes to live, that one's getting played!
