Default Accidentally bought a Strat

Don’t you hate when you kick the tires on something and then the deal becomes too good to pass up? And by “hate” I mean “love”

I had a Mexican Strat (‘03 model) a while back and liked but didn’t love it. For a while I preferred the single coil telecaster sound. Now I am realizing there is room for both. I can achieve a lot of tones with what I have, but a Strat is a Strat.

Enter a minty fresh American Professional Stratocaster (SSS) in Sienna Burst (maple board). Your typical “like new“ from a guitar shop. I don’t mind saving a few hundred dollars because it has a couple marks on the pickguard.

I either need to make room on my Hercules rack for another, or play guitar survivor!

For those not familiar, some features include a bone nut, pop in trem arm, treble bleed circuit, V Mod pickups and Elite case. I will have to see how much I like the treble bleed, as I am used to rolling back volume to warm the tone a bit.

How do others like the Pro (formerly Standard) series?

Congrats on your fine find!!!

I just traded in an American Standard series I loved for a Les Paul. I played the LP in the store and it just had to come home, otherwise that very nice Standard would still be at home.

Mich Novice,
I just got a 3 color burst professional 2 weeks ago and to my eyes is absolutely gorgeous! This is my first electric after hacking away on acoustics for a year and a half. Can’t play the acoustic anymore for physical reasons. I have an appointment to get it setup properly at Elderlys in Lansing next Friday. While there, I hope to get a Tele, any suggestions?

Bob
I should probably try this one in, one out stuff!

I purchased it with no interest for six months, so I have time to sort out who stays. I am a big proponent of buying used so I can A/B at home on my own time. As long as I get a price I can sell for, it works out well.

Although I do see Hercules sells expanders for racks such as mine ...

I have never been there surprisingly, and I am just in Northern Oakland!

I love my Baja Tele. Fantastic USA pickups. A ton of tonal options at a very good price.

I think the simplicity of the telecaster means you don’t have to drop huge bucks. I think I paid around 475 for mine used.

Well, accidents will happen.

Congratulations! Nice guitar for certain...and Sienna Burst is beautiful.

Enjoy your new axe!

I agree about the simplicity of the tele generally, but the Baja tele, with its four way switch and S1 options, is more complicated than a strat with a five way switch, which is more linear. I have a strat and a tele Nd love em both, but the strat always has been and always will be my #1...

The Fender Sienna burst is one of my very favorite finishes that they produce...I used to have an 83 Stratocaster Elite that was a Sienna burst...I don’t much miss the guitar itself but I do miss the burst...

Why not just get one of the new Acoustasonic Teles?

I’ve had this one about a half-year. It’s one of the best-mannered electrics I’ve ever had, and incredibly versatile.

When I "stumbled upon" my TeleStrat partscaster, "It followed me home. Can we keep it", was my post on Facebook.
