Body shape, idea, color, all of that is cool in my book.

Those fretboard inlays are an abomination, though.

That picture. The drummer is hiding his sticks in the body.

The design reminds me of Rossmeisl’s design in Rickenbackers and the Telecaster thinline. I think it works best if the swoop continues in the headstock like the Rickenbacker. But the Martin Shaker-inspired headstock is too perfect to mess with.

So when did Andy Powers shift to Martin?

They kept that quiet.

It is an upgrade, I purchased one for a guitar that didn't have a pickup. The next guitar I bought had the Sonitone and I ripped it out and purchased another element to replace, because I liked it.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a long time Martin fan. I’m down to 2 acoustics and they’re both Martins.

But with Epiphone’s Inspired by Gibson line selling imported J45s, J200s and Hummingbirds with all solid woods for under $1k why would I be tempted to buy an imported laminate Martin pushing $2k? I must be confused here, somebody please help me out.

Default yup...SC13

Well, I was close. What a shame, IMO, that a laminate should be promoted as a new, wonder creation with a price beyond reality....I'll stick with my cheapo, fun builds.

Ooooh, don't blame this abomination of "design" on Powers. This thing has a shape that answers a question no one asked, a cutaway that is grotesquely large, fret markers that were lifted off a Fisher Price, and a burst that is, oh my, in no way whatsoever, defensible.

If this were a Taylor, there would be 10x the criticism on this board ...well deserved for this piece, mind you. Yet some will defend it. Hmmm. Guess they would be the true fan base. Yup, Martin owns this. Say that out loud, now!

Edward
