Luthier James Olson made a run of James Taylor signature guitars. If you go to the Olson website, you can read about the project.

Preston Thompson has/had Molly Tuttle and Billy Strings signature models.

Well I'll be. They did make 30 of them. Unfortunately they didn't slow her hand down .

…I think Keith Greeninger should have a Santa Cruz signature OM….a local boy that’s been playing his SC OM for decades…plus he’s awesome….

Just after I had recorded all my vinyl Johnny Smith albums to digital, Mosaic released their Johnny Smith collection. Rather than depending on the variable quality of the recordings I had done, I grabbed that quickly, along with a number of other of their collections of a variety of artists. I don't hear much about them anymore, but back then Mosaic was quite popular among those who enjoyed good jazz.

You do know that Nick Lucas has already had one.

Got that plus several other Mosaic sets, Joe Pass, Wes, Tal, and Oscar Peterson (with Barney Kessel for the most part, and the lesser known but outstanding Irving Ashby).

I do not mind about signatures... I just love my Martin OODB.
Even though I do not know anything about Jeff Tweedy's music.
I even read that some expensive signature models were not as
good as a regular models, while others were better.

Er, more than one...
I think he was going for irony-- all of those players had signature models.

Of the modern players, it seems a lot of folks I really like aren't married to a certain guitar (Bill Frisell, Julian Lage), or they play a pretty basic stock model that can still be found (Jonathan Kriesberg, Philip Catherine) so there's no need for a "signature."

A signature/reissue I'd love to see again would be a Charlie Christian ES-150.

I imagine most artists play a stock model until a manufacturer offers to make them a signature one....

Well, given that all those other guys (except Mr. Paul) played jazz boxes, and I've never really liked jazz guitar (which is amusing, given my love of jazz otherwise), I have no idea if any of them have had signature guitars or not.

I was going to say Willie Watson (previously of Old Crow Medicine Show) should have a signature Larrivee guitar but then I see they already made one. He's one of those guys who has been seen over the years constantly playing the same beat up guitar. I always appreciate that. To me that's a signature model, when you associate the guitar without it having their name on it!

Speaking of, Epiphone could do a Dave Rawlings signature Olympic archtop. (Maybe not something he'd be interested in..) I know they did the Masterbilt line but when I look at the new aged natural finish on the Hummingbirds I can't help thinking an archtop with that vibe would be a beauty.

Mac McAnally. 10 time winner of Country Music Association “Musician of the Year” award and Inductee to the Nashville Songwriter Hall of Fame.

Plays a lot of different guitars but closely associated with Martin 28 slothead.

(Full disclosure: I have a HD 28-vs slothead and it’s a fantastic guitar. Everyone should play one at least once.)
