Oops...sorry for the wrong info there, I should have said all the ones I looked at have a 25" scale I guess.

As far as I know they do variations on tapered X bracing and scalloped tone bars. I've seen others with more shaped finger bracing but mine are straight.

Looks like a great guitar, but I'd want the slothead, and they are doing far too high a price bump to the the slothead upgrade over the paddlehead.

I'd like to take my Yairi into a shop with the Iris, play them both blindfolded.

This model caught my eye too. Agree though, slot head up charge in too much. Need these to stay closer to $2000 to keep their nitch in the market. Looking forward to trying one someday.

I believe the other reason you won’t see Iris make many ladder braced guitars is that Dale used to make them and saw a lot of them collapse. Who needs that headache?

And there’s a ton of thump in the bass. I don’t think the bracing is influencing the sound as much as you’d think it would. I’ve heard luthiers compare the process to making a good stew… lots of ingredients that add up, and many routes to the same endpoint.

Dale's aniline finishes are amazing. You can see the wood grain through the darkest edges of the burst. But I own Dale's take on a Roy Smeck and I think the tall, thin un-scalloped X bracing is a major ingredient in giving the guitar its voice. It is also interesting that he went with a reverse kerfing in the build.

It was a long time after the ND200 was announced before we saw our first video demo. I would expect it will be a few weeks before we see the same for the new 000.

They should consider putting the end pin depth a bit deeper on this one like Froggy does with the H12 model. I find these 12 Fret 000 instruments really benefit for the low E string volume and power from having that added end pin depth!!

I think it is all X bracing, no ladder.

You are correct. I miss spoke. I meant the Dan Erlewine model. DE-11

Looks like the Iris folks are venturing into the Martin body styles, now that they have replicated most of the Gibson lineup! This brand new 000 12 fret offering will be available with or without a slotted headstock and I believe is the first model with rosewood back and sides as standard spec. Excited to see this, and hopefully, an OM is on the drawing board!

Literally. Adam and IRIS built the guitar that you see on the website for me. I got it about a month ago and I love it! Like all IRIS guitars, it's feather light and highly responsive. I selected the rosewood B&S but as the website says you can choose this or another tone wood.

I am told that there will be a video of Burlington, VT guitarist Paul Asbell playing my guitar coming out one of these days.
