I played a Bourgie slope dread very similar to this one at the Fret Board Summit. It was my favorite guitar of the show. It was listed at $13,000. ![]()

I'd choose the Bourgeois. My Bourgeois has been my main player for many years despite owning a couple of Martins.
And, while that flamed neck is lovely, the sunburst on that Martin is, umm, well... not my favorite.

That D-28 looks pretty special.

Tough one. Both would be great.
Id probably lean towards the Martin if it were me.... |

I'd get the Bourgeois. I've never played a bad one (not that I've played hundreds) and you already have a Martin that you like.

I agree that if the Martin was an HD-28, I would pick it.
If the Bourgeois has scalloped bracing, I would pick it.

The Bourgeois looks delightful, but their necks simply don't suit me. I'm sure the Martin would give you that "martin" sound, but , (personal feeling) I don't care for that "sudden" sunburst.

That Martin neck is something else- wow. Super cool and tempting- HOWEVER, I wouldn't be able to deal with the sunburst asymmetry.
So if it was one of those guitars or the other, I'd go with the Bourgeois. But I also wouldn't buy the Bourgeois without playing it (or a bunch of them to know whether the general "thing" they have works for you/me). |
