Once more, thanks to all the nice people that their time to answer my post.
I am getting some interesting answers, as a 12 string for ex. Why not?

I am stuck with my budget as I am probably going to return a guitar worth 1500 so I have this sum to spend. I can eventually add some money, but I definitely do not want to double it and get something like a Hummingbirg (althought it is a great guitar!).

I juve have to spend this money if I have to send my Telecaster back, so my boat will float around 1500.

Thanks all you guys, I will have much fun looking for my next guitar!

I know I mentioned a Rosewood B&S slope, but truthfully, I would be looking for a used D-28 of some sort, about the perfect compliment to a J-45.

If you already have your perfect guitar, why do you need another?

Doubtful. But if you want to spend the money, how about something different? A squareneck reso. A roundneck reso. A mando. A lap steel. A conertina. A xylophone.

I'm a J-45 guy too and have had my '59 since my dad passed in 1979 and left it to me. He got it for Christmas his senior year of high school in 1959. A J-45 is the sound I hear in my head when I think of an acoustic guitar so I'm kinda in the same boat as you. The guitars that I've found that satisfy my ears are my Original 50's LG-2 and my Martin 000-17. The LG-2 is often described as the mini J-45 and I agree wholeheartedly. The Martin 000-17 is dry and woody and has a strong Gibson feel and tone. Both of these should be on your short list.

I'm another one that will recommend variety. There are other people with 8 dreads for example. I love my HD-28, but see no need for another similar guitar. So I also have an Eastman archtop, an 80's Ovation 12 string, gypsy jazz Sel-Mac style, 000-15SM, Eastman E2OM-CD (highly recommended by many here) and a round neck wood body spider bridge resonator.

I love a mix of woods, styles, shapes and sizes. I never get bored and play them all regularly.

I recommend you try a bunch of completely different guitars. Or even branch out beyond - I play violin, viola, mandolin, mandola, octave mandolin, mandocello, upright bass and ukulele. For $1500 you could get a decent used fiddle or mandolin or a good new ukulele...

Because I am going to return a guitar and will have to spend the equivalent money, as I can't get a refund. Just this.

To these old ears, and I only have limited experience with the J45, but to me, it seems the J35 (which I own) has an overall brighter tone than the J45.

Which means you could have both and not really be duplicating things. One for bright, one for mellow. They are different guitars!

If you are looking for an alternative checkout a Blueridge BG140
