Bridge pins for Martin D35

I switched out the plastic pins for bone on my fabulous little D-Jr and heard a difference right away: longer sustain, and slightly more volume. And not because I wanted them to improve the sound so they did. They actually did. I use Martin PB Lifespan 2 strings. Like the bone pins so much that I'm going to replace the nut and saddle for bone next time I have the guitar set up. I'm guessing Martin uses plastic because it helps shave the cost of their guitars, which sound terrific even with plastic.
