Default How many of you are single?

Whether divorced, never married or never so inclined, how many of you are single?

Just curious.

61 and never married - reasonably close a couple of times, but I've been without significant other for 25 years now and not even looking.

I've been happily divorced for a bit over 20 years.

61 here. I was married for 17 years before I decided I was done. That was five years ago and I now have a ladyfriend of the last two years that treats me right. Honestly, if this doesn't work out, I don't have any plans to pursue female companionship after this. Too much drama.

Not married, but not single either. We’ve both been married before and don’t see the need to do it again - it could happen, I suppose, but neither one of us cares much about it either way. We’ve been together 10 years and it’s great.

Did the living together thing a couple of times and so glad that we never involved the legalities of marriage for each. Nope...this says it all:

I’m 56 and single, divorced 2 years ago.
I’d probably still be married if my ex wasn’t an alcoholic.
I’ve made the decision to never marry again.

Married for 43 years in a few weeks. Can’t imagine living without her.

67 and a year divorced after 30 years of marriage with a high functioning alcoholic. Blissfully single and retired now, life is Great!

I did get two wonderful daughters out of that marriage

Married 3 times, am 73, single again for almost 8 years. Learned a lot about what doesn’t work in relationships, myself, the futility of trying to live up to unreasonable and impossible to achieve expectations, and knowing when to move on.

Realize now that for mutual enjoyment and relationship success, both parties have to value, enjoy, and appreciate each other, put in the effort, respect and do their best in recognizing and meeting each other’s needs. I’ve been in a committed relationship for the last 6 years that fulfills those components. It’s nice to appreciate and be appreciated, and we’re committed to learning and improving our connection.

Am not interested in getting married again, as when things got rough the marriage vows were meaningless on a practical level, and divorcing was disappointing and expensive.

I applaud those sharing about their good fortune and positive, long term marriages. They are truly blessed. I’m thankful for getting to a place in my life with a positive, mutually nurturing relationship. It’s definitely late but so much better than never.

Never have married... for a long time, I just figured I would, but never found a woman who seemed like she would "go the distance".

I'd say I was close a few times, but I'm sure that friends of mine would shake their heads and say, "nope..."!

My folks got divorced when I was 11, so finding someone who was in for the long haul has always seemed paramount to me, ESPECIALLY if we were having children!

Now? Well, never say never, but... at 72, I can scarcely find a reason why I would get married.
