The wife and I have been together for 43 years and married for 39. I could have never met a person who would be a better partner than her.

My wife and I were married in early June, 1970, so we've been married a little over 53 years.

37 years in December, still singing (her) and playing guitars (both of us) together, with 4 boys and 4 lovely granddaughters - which they got from my wife.

That's pretty cool the majority of everyone posting are long term marriages. That's definitely NOT the societal norm.

It is really great to read how many of us have long term marriages. I have been married to my wonderful guy for 46 years.

It’s probably not true forum-wide either. There’s a lot of selection bias here I’d strongly imagine. Those of us fortunate enough to be in long term happy marriages are more than happy to post that in this thread. For the most part, I’d imagine those who have had less success in marriage are not anxious to post about it here…

It is always interesting to me to read what other folks here were doing at particular points of time. When you got married, I was in Vietnam for a month.

My wife and I got married in July 1983. My only task for the wedding was to find a classical guitarist. I failed miserably, but fortunately, I was doing exactly that as a side gig back then, so I did it and met my wife at the alter. Anyway, 40 years.

After dating a few months, we've been married 32 years.
We attribute it to talking things out, especially towards financial matters and
giving each other individual space.

But, when people ask us why we've been together so long, that's a different story.

Her response: "My money is mine, and his money is mine."
My response: " Do you see this drink in my hand?"
