It has been a month or more since many of us received our Emerald 25% off toys. How are you doing with them? Are you bonding, ready to sell, not your favorite, ???.
Mine is a Kestrel and it has become my favorite daily player. Emerald really got this one right! I am really glad to have found out about this sale here in the forums. The icing on the cake is that my wife likes this guitar especially since she picked it out from the page of available Kestrels at the time. Edit: I don't want to leave the impression that how a guitar sounds isn't important to me. It is, and I would not have made the switch to carbon fiber if I felt the sound wasn't up to par. As has been pointed out many times in various discussions around here, carbon fiber guitars don't really sound any more different from wood guitars than various wood guitars do from each other. As with ANY guitar, regardless of what it is made of, either you like the sound of a particular guitar or you don't. I tend to like the sound of most of the guitars I have played and certainly appreciate the sound of my carbon fiber instruments. Tony

I'm liking my Amicus and X20 a whole lot. Most of you already know that these weren't my first Emeralds, but after doing a whole lot of guitar backing and forthing, I've come to realize that these models suit my musical wants/needs very well...
PS. FWIW I'm ok with "toys." Last edited by RP; 09-08-2023 at 07:18 AM. Reason: Let’s not go there. |

I’m really enjoying the Virtuo. It weighs almost nothing. I find myself picking it up a lot to play it - both plugged in and unplugged. It plays and sounds great. I recently got a Paul Reed Smith DGT guitar. The Virtuo and DGT are very different instruments, but both guitars have coil tap capability. I like the tones I’m getting out of both guitars. I find myself using the coil taps to get single coil sounds a lot.

All - Please - let’s drop the weapon vs. toys comparisons. The mere mention of weapons on this forum almost immediately turns into a political discussion, and with that, an annoying headache for the moderating team. Thanks.
I wish you all a happy and safe holiday weekend. Rick AGF Moderator

Well, I'm absolutely loving the X20-12 I had no intention of buying, and have barely even looked at my other guitars since it entered my life - not even my X20-6, which I also love.
I know of course that this won't last, but I've had a thing for 12s since the 70s, and while it's still early days, in terms of the overall package this could well be the best acoustic 12 I have played over the last 50+ years. I've had 12s that I've liked as much or even better for specific reasons, but it seems to me that carbon construction and Emerald's design concepts are ideally suited to the realm of acoustic 12s. After all, what's not to like about a 12-string that I can keep on the stand in standard tuning with 12-53 gauge strings that rarely requires tuning and sounds amazing? |

I am over the moon with my X20 at home. It is so comfortable and musical. I plug in at home a lot since I gig frequently and use a looper. I play at home through a Fishman Loudbox Artist acoustic amp and I run its DI out to a Bose S1 Pro on the other side of the room. The sound is magical! For gigging, I use a pair of Bose L1 Pro 8's with a Bose T4S mixer.
My new X20 has the Graphtech Ghost Piezo/K&K PU combination and also on the X30. I love how punchy the signal is. The comfort of the X20 body makes me play a lot more than I ever did on my traditional wood dreads: Martin D-18, Martin HD-28 and Collings D1T. Those are some "FINE" acoustics and I'm playing my Emerald more. The main reason is that it sits out on a stand in my room and the traditional acoustics are in the case with humidifier packs in the closet so the action doesn't go astray.

Very cool, everybody! Emerald did us all a favor by getting high quality CF instruments into so many hands at a more affordable price point in the midst of rising prices. Kudos to Emerald!

Some that didn’t get purchased on sale are in the classifieds as unwanted by owner.

In my own case, I am finding that it doesn't really matter what the guitar is made of. What matters to me at this point in my life is playability and the amount of maintenance the guitar requires. For me, carbon fiber guitars fit those needs very well. For others, wood guitars may be a better choice. All carbon fiber guitars represent in the bigger picture is yet another viable choice among many. Tony

So you’re selling yours because you missed the sale by a couple of weeks?

Selling it because I’m not happy with it. Over paying is part of it. I’ve decided to keep my X7 and my 000-18. Two is the maximum payload for full timing in the RV. Who knows. Later I may get another X20 but stick with the LR Baggs pickup. I think I would prefer the ghost piezo with the KK contact pickup but with the fixed bridge. But, they probably wouldn’t bulldog that one.
My next decision is whether to keep the 5 ply Geld case that came with the 000-18 or use the much lighter Hiscox Pro II case I purchased for it.

I’m really enjoying the Virtuo that I got on the 25% off sale. Here are some of my favorite things about it:
It weighs almost nothing. I just pick it up and walk around the house with it and play it. It plays well. I like the variety of sounds I can get with the pickups. The split coil sounds work really well! It looks really classy with the gold / amber top |
