Don, thanks for asking. The winner is chosen NOT on the basis of their response to the writing question; these are just for my own enjoyment.

I use an online random number generator. Each post has a post # assigned to it by AGF, so it will just be whatever number is randomly generated by this website.

Thanks,
Scott

Hi Scott,

Manatees are my favorite sea creature. Manatees are big, harmless creatures that are kind of an adopted animal here in SW Florida. There's even a cool looking Save the Manatee license plate sold in Florida, with proceeds going to the Save the Manatee Trust Fund.

Best,
Kevin

Nessie!
I saw just this morning a new expedition is being organized to find the so far, mythical creature…

Having lived in Encinitas and Carlsbad for many decades I have to say dolphins are my favorite sea creature. They would often take off in a group on the same wave I was riding. Every once in a long while one would surface next to where I was sitting and I could run my hand along its back as it went by. Truly magical.

I like Pelicans. Gracefull, quiet, orderly. I live near the ocean, frequently take my dog to a bluff where we're surrounded by hundreds of them. Impressive!

I am a big fan of pelagic and diving sea birds like pelicans, puffins and albatrosses. I saw an albatross up close at the Monterey Bay Aquarium a number of years ago and it was fascinating to be in the presence of such a sleek and powerful bird.
Best,
Jayne

My favorite sea creature is a sea horse. It is unique, tiny, and the best part is the males take on the role of parenting from pregnancy to giving birth. It's an admirable trait!

Dolphins (Bottlenose) are my favorite. The unique combination of their athleticism, playfulness, adaptability and intelligence are amazing.

Thanks for your sponsorship and contributions to AGF.

I've been on Octopus kick lately. How weird they are - their brains are distributed, throughout their bodies, the way they can fit through almost any crack.

I saw a video recently of one reaching across to tap a shrimp on the opposite side, so that the shrimp instinctively moved towards the octopus, making for easy prey.

Sting Rays are my favorite, they’re just so graceful and ominous looking at the same time.

I love Sharks because they may attack anyone, human or otherwise, entering their environment that may look like a seal or other sea creature their tastes in food may favor--Hey, they're just trying to survive!

Love this!

Mine is the Manatee. Growing up in South Florida, we would see these creatures all the time, slowly swimming along, seemingly without a care in the world, just eating and living and being at peace with all other creatures. They are big enough that they have very few natural predators (uncaring humans with motorboats excepted), and they are herbivores, so they don't have to hunt for their food either. They are just at peace with everything around them which I always thought was a really nice way to live.

Fun fact: its thought that manatees were one inspiration for tales of mermaids centuries ago, because when they would surface for air, dragging long strands of seaweed in their mouths, sailors would mistake them for women with long hair.

My favorite sea creature is the Ocean Sunfish. I remember doing a report on them in 5th grade. Just these huge fish floating under the surface all happy and mellow….
