“Take my money now — please!” That’s a gorgeous pick, Scott!
Favorite sea creature is a tough one—I’d have to say giant sea turtles. Seeing them up close, they look like prehistoric animals. In shallow water, they move almost in slow motion. In deeper water, they glide through the water as if they are weightless, and can actually swim very fast. It’s fun to watch a bale of turtles playing with each other in shallow water. They swim around each other and climb over each other—it’s like watching a slow turning kaleidoscope. Last edited by sinistral; 08-27-2023 at 02:00 AM. Reason: added sea creature description |

It’s difficult to choose a favorite because some are favorite meals and some are favorites alive. But I’ll choose a favorite alive this.
My favorite sea creature is the bottle nose dolphin. Mainly because of their intelligence, but also because of their grace, beauty and playfulness. I’m fortunate enough that they I get to see them in their natural habitat fairly often and am mesmerized every time. Having swum with them only confirmed my admiration. |

Harbor Porpoise - when I lived on the Hood Canal, a fjord in western Washington, they would sometimes appear in the distance as I kayaked from my house to set or check crab pots. Always in small groups, and cautious to never let me get too close.
Somehow the distance helped them keep their wildness. Sea Lions and seals would often come much closer, probably knowing that when I checked my crab pots I would dump the female crabs, under sized males and star fish back into the water. To me, the sea lions and seals were interesting, but mostly they were pests.

Orcas- beautiful creatures, live in families, and can live to be 100 years old. Very intelligent.

I would have to say my favorite is the Humpback Whale. Almost made extinct by man, but slowly making a comeback.
I think this is what I like most about them... Whales make beautiful, mysterious music. You may be familiar with the deep, haunting song of the humpback whale. There’s a great deal of wonder and mystery wrapped up with the humpback whale vocals, but it’s something which has captivated researchers and wildlife lovers alike. Why exactly do the whales sing, and what makes them repeat and echo one another’s songs? This beautiful music is another reason to love the majestic humpback whale. |

How are the winners chosen?
My favorite is the "headless chicken monster," a.k.a. Enypniastes eximia. I saw it on a National Geographic episode on Disney Plus last year. |

Beautiful picks!
I’m going with the Octopus. With one central brain and eight more brains, one in each arm I’m envious. I could use a bit more brain power and wonder just how much better I could play with an extra brain in each arm.

I am partial to the Blue Tang ever since seeing Finding Nemo. Dory is the guidepost for where my mind is heading - not that I’ll recognize it when I get there, but in the meantime I have a pretty fish to follow
