Hey Mike thanks for stopping by!
If I had kids I would not have so many guitars!!! Pic yesterday from John of the laminated neck block going in… I like the look of the spalted Maple insides. The double sides allow John to bend the thinned Bubinga for my preferred non pointy (Venetian) cutaway. Thanks John. I really dislike sharp and pointy anything on my instruments. I keep saying these big Gun JK Customs feel like giant Stratocasters, but lighter! Happy Monday to all Paul

Sides and blocks are joined.
Pretty view from John’s porch railing!!! One shot has joy juice to simulate shellac inside. Looks sweet to me!!! Cheers Paul

Laminated lining going in at the top edge of the body.
I get a kick out of John’s clamp collection. These have seen some serious building in their days…20230903_155538.jpg

This from John yesterday 20230912_152500.jpg
“The wedge is more or less done. 3/4 inch difference. I had to let the inner laminate on the treble side stand a little proud of the bubinga. The bubinga sides were too narrow otherwise. This will of course be cut away when the binding goes on.” I asked him to make it as deep as possible with the sides he has. And we decided to do 3/4” wedge. One inch seemed a bit much… Cheers Paul

John sent pics of some of his nifty rosettes. I am partial to the one on my JK Maple Round Peak. (#4)
Any opinions welcomed! 20230912_154348.jpg20230604_083304.jpgRosetteRich.jpgIMG_5221.jpg Funny, even though I want all these new-fangled comfort and sonic innovations, I still gravitate to more traditional looking guitars and decoration… Thanks John Paul

Wow- gorgeous rosettes! And the Bubinga is such a beautiful wood.
I also love the rosette on your Round Peak. I'm also liking the shell one a lot! What does Cindy say? She's going be the one looking at it the most and she does have opinions ![]() beth |

Hey Beth, Cindy agrees on the relatively simple abalone inside thinner dark wood. Kind of nice that we almost always agree on esthetics…. She, too, is very fond of John’s guitars and that is good, as she hears them a LOT! Enjoy your new (used) Kathy Wingert! What a peach A fantastic Saturday to all Paul

John reports the linings are now complete I believe I may have sweet talked him into flamed maple bindings and bevels. Why not a bit MORE figure at this point? Hahaha Cheers Paul

Are you getting a soundport?
John builds a righteous guitar. After guitar, after guitar. I love mine, and I envy you for yours! Al |

I am getting my/our full Pablo Package: Port, bevels, cutaway, Carbon Fiber D Tube in the neck, CF rods from neck block to waist, allow lighter bracing to free up the top sliding adjustable neck! Manzer style wedge, 25” scale, Lighter build to be tuned down to D and drop C, Slightly asymmetrical slim V-ish neck with apex a bit closer to bass strings. All edges nicely chamfered for player comfort. And a large helping of John’s special Pixie Dust…. Haha These are all features done before, but I have not heard of anyone else doing all or even most of them on one guitar. Many were John’s ideas when I asked what he had never done but wanted to do. The rest were my requests. A few other requests were deemed bad ideas, and I Always try to LISTEN when John politely declines! Duh This is our SEVENTH custom build now, and the list of Pablo Package Features has finally stabilized for this one. I am sure John is somewhat relieved! I believe these are the most comfortable and TONEFUL instruments I have ever experienced. Is toneful a word? It is now! Hahaha Thanks for asking, and sorry if TMI! Happiest Picking and Grinning to all Paul
