Agreed, unless you have big hair down to your but, a 24" waist, and "sling" your solid 'lectric as low as yur button flies guaranteeing carpel tunnel syndrome will visit you when you reach true adulthood.

Default Commonly used guitar related words that drive you crazy!!!!

So this is what the AGF has come down to. Looks like it’s time to take another Hiatus!! By the way, the term Cannon, or Il Cannone was used as a name for one of the most famous Guarneri violins, in the world, WAY BACK in 1743!

Well, there is, of course "plectrum style, and archtops (or Cello guitars0 were often also called "plectrum" guitars.

What we have here is evidence of how the English language has evolved in the few hundred years since we kicked your lot out. After all, we don't begrudge you "boot" or "torch."

Allow me to re-write this for you.

What we have here is evidence of how the English language has Devolved in the few hundred years since we left you to the French (in 1784) and denied you Empire member status. After all, we don't begrudge you .... actually we don't begrudge you anything. "

A few more:

- I just "pulled the trigger" on it!
- It's "awesome"
- It "rings for days"!
- I was "blown away"!
- "It's cured my GAS"!
- "It's the last guitar I will ever want"!
- referring to anything costing $1-2K or more as "high-end". LOL.
- using "high-end" as a measure of cost rather than quality.

And while we're grousing:

- Misspelling. Even if you were a lousy speller in school, writing apps have a spellchecker, so you have no excuse for misspellings but laziness.

- Homonyms. Use the right word! Canon/cannon, herd/heard, compliment/complement, hoard/horde, flair/flare, etc. all mean different things. A three-second google search will bring up a word's definition. Learn which is which, people!

- Presenting one's own opinion or experience as universal, objective fact.

- Finally, the word 'plectrum' is so adorably quaint and soooo 19th Century. The only time I encounter the word is in technical or classical descriptions of playing, or from the pretentious. It's a pick.

This was a humorous thread, mainly laughing at ourselves who are mostly, lets face it guitar nerds.

Your nasty comments are unbecoming, insulting, inaccurate and inappropriate. Please remember that this is an international forum. I suggest that you delete it.

Very well, I've deleted it.
I just tend to react negatively to comments I consider pretentious.

Calling any guitar an "axe" has always irritated me. I've spent most of my life learning guitar, it didn't take long at all for me to learn to use an axe. Even less time to know I didn't like it! Don't care much for the term "hog" either.
