I used to get bugged by the term “arsenal” when folks are referring to their collection of guitars. Then Tony Polecastro started saying “guitarsenal” and I liked that term a whole lot better though I don’t use either term. :-)

Actually I understand the piano-like analogy. I have always taken it to mean that it is heavy on the harmonics. Like when you make a 10 fingered chord on a piano.

I have also found the term to come across as a bit pretentious. I have always had a hard time thinking of someone fingerpicking old-time folk, country or blues as "Fingerstyle."
