"stunning"
"holy grail"
"sounds like (fill-in) on steroids!"
sustain: "when I take it out of the case it's still ringing!"
"it's a cannon!" often misspelled as 'canon'...

And I'm just getting started.

This is the nicest sounding best playing guitar I have ever owned, but I have to sell it to fund another one.

I used to get bugged by the term “arsenal” when folks are referring to their collection of guitars. Then Tony Polecastro started saying “guitarsenal” and I liked that term a whole lot better though I don’t use either term. :-)
Best,

It is a little-discussed fact that amongst the cherished '59 Les Pauls that you will pay $250,000 for there are a number of dogs. The most well-known collector of '58-'60 LPs, Joe Bonamassa, has gone through several. You'll never see an advertisement that says, "'59 Les Paul. $250,000. This one is a dog so I'm moving it on." The vintage crowd will admit that there are dogs but they will never name any particular one.

Talking

How ‘bout “Dread-slayer” or “Ax” ?
- somehow the mental picture of someone with an ax chasing a dread with intent to kill is not at all pleasing —-

As a beginner I have to admit to wincing whenever my guitar teacher utters the phrase “barre chord.”

Then shouldn't it cover the whole guitar? Since they seem to acquire scratches everywhere?

I am particularly amused by the fact that it is extremely unlikely the poster has ever actually played my >$2000 guitar that they are so blithely comparing their <$200 one too.

But if it makes you feel better...

Both utter and complete over-romanticised nonsense - a guitar sounds like a guitar, nothing more and nothing less. And, FWIW, there isn’t a single person alive on this Earth who knows what a ‘choir of angels’ sounds like.
Actually I understand the piano-like analogy. I have always taken it to mean that it is heavy on the harmonics. Like when you make a 10 fingered chord on a piano.

I have also found the term to come across as a bit pretentious. I have always had a hard time thinking of someone fingerpicking old-time folk, country or blues as "Fingerstyle."

As if sheer volume is the only thing that makes a good guitar.
