Pretty quiet hear in Fairbanks land. Today is six months in on delivery of my Super Jumbo. Must say it just keeps on getting better and better. Could not be happier!

Same here Fred! The F-35 tone keeps growing every week. There’s been a small bit of seasonal movement with mine, but it seems to be settling in now. Generally, I’ve had to tweak the truss rod 1/4 turn left or right to compensate. By luck, I was able to get some Thomastic Infeld Spectrum strings (which are a little heavier gauge, but still 167 lbs for the set) and they sound great. Martin Mediums also sounded great. I am playing with them tuned down a half step.

I still haven’t gotten up to South Burlington however. That will require a little bit more nudging to my other half. It’s 3-1/2 hours from here… just long enough to make it more practical to do an overnight stay.

Absolutely Andy. My only hope is that my skills keep improving so that I can bring out the best from this guitar. And, as bucket list items go, commissioning or purchasing a fine guitar is a very attainable goal!

Hey Rick, Glad you enjoying yours too. Mine has had no movement. Probably due to it being a 12 fretter and my use of light gauge strings, which have been my preference for many years.

Bumping up an old thread. I have a Tuxedo F-20 that I received a month or so ago. Dale built one as a one off for Folkway Music in Waterloo last year - I played it, loved it but waited on it and it sold. So he made another and I picked it up from them.

This is cool! I've haven't been around the AGF much the past several years, so I didn't see this thread until now.

Here's my original NGD post for my F-35 — crazy that this makes 10 years with the guitar! It's been cool to see more of Dale's guitars pop up over that time — especially here on the AGF with happy owners. I hope that some of my first-hand thoughts — and the occasional well-placed photo* — helped add to those numbers in some small way.

My kids call it the "sunset guitar" — and while they enjoy hearing me play it for them, I'd love to be on the other side of the guitar hearing one of them play it for me someday. Fingers crossed.

I’ve really enjoyed my SJ over the years. I love that it is the Kalamazoo Gals version, which creates a connection both with the incredible K-Gals and with my good friend, John Thomas.

I'm thrilled that you, my friend, have a Kalamazoo Gals Fairbanks!

That project was a labor of love. (And, no, I have no financial interest in the project. I facilitated it because I love Dale as a person and luthier.)

For those who don't know, Dale based the guitar on my original that sent me on the journey that became "Kalamazoo Gals." The model features a label signed by the last surviving Gal (she's 101!) and a "Banner" made of maple that was in the old Gibson factory during WWII.
