I thought maybe someone owned it for some time.....

Have no personal experience, but a read some positive reviews and many more negative reviews. Before you buy one, e-mail Rich Sayage at Savage Classical Guitar and ask him about the repairs he's done on these.

Hey, All--I know there are a lot of negative reviews and dissatisfied Bellucci customers. I certainly don't want to quarrel with others' unhappy experiences. I just want to say that the guitars I got from Bellucci around 2004/05, in my classical guitar phase, are really excellent guitars. My guitars, as opposed to most of what I see on the Mangore.com site these days, are just straight-ahead, very standard, very well-made guitars, one in spruce and one in cedar, easily as good as the typical Spanish offerings in the price range. I wouldn't call them "luthier"-grade instruments, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with them, in terms of construction and craftsmanship. I've played dozens and dozens and dozens of classical guitars, from relatively inexpensive starter guitars to really expensive luthier guitars, and my Bellucci guitars seem to me to very good, good projection, good warmth, easy playability. Just thought I'd add my two cents' worth. Best, Jack

I must admit that I was eye balling them last week.

I'd LOVE to hear from some people who have owned and played them. It didn't take a rocket surgeon to tell that most people giving the reviews hadn't ever played one.

A 7 string classical/flamenco is on my GAS list. I was thinking Edward V. Dick for that some day.

Bellucci is making really pretty eye candy. You can make a very average student grade guitar with ultra premium expensive woods.

But that doesn't mean it will sound any better. That's the beauty of the internet. You can wow people with great photography and pretty pictures.

Bellucci is staying in business on higher income non profession musicians who are more interested in eye candy and a pretty guitar to hang on the wall.

With all the negative and nasty stuff out there about him on the web, people still keep giving him 1000's of dollars for his guitars.

I guess a lot of people just don't care and want one anyway.

What might be alternatives to Bellucci guitars? I think EVD quoted me about $7k for a fanned fret 7 string. I'd imagine a blingy top might add another $1k to the price tag.

The classical guitar market is a bit tougher. There's a lot more luthiers doing steel string as the market is so much bigger and more profitable.

It could be 100 to 1 ratio of steel string vs classical makers.

Welp, considering I know of only 1 option of EVD, perhaps you're right.

I bought a Bellucci Concert guitar, cedar/rosewood and they're top quality guitars. If you believe everything you read on the Internet, you're either very gullible, or dumber than dirt! The problem is that the soundboard is substantially thinner than the average production classical guitar, and many people don't know the first thing about how to take proper care of such a delicate instrument. High tension strings are not recommended, and not needed. I use Thomastik-Infeld CF127 strings. With the correct strings, my guitar has fabulous tone & projection, and is, without any doubt, the best sounding (and most beautiful) classical guitar I own.

Anyone that says they don't sound fabulous doesn't know how a high-quality classical guitar should sound. I read the reviews online, and then...I did my own research. Those reviews actually helped me acquire a very nice guitar, and make a really good deal. Those reviews were (obviously) posted by disgruntled individuals that bought a high-quality, and well constructed classical guitar, but then discovered (after the fact) that such a delicate instrument requires special care. I had a good laugh reading reviews by morons! I monitor the temperature and humidity, keep my guitar in a humidicase when not in use, and have NEVER had any problems. If you treat these guitars poorly, like so many performing artists do these days, with their aggressive attack, they won't last for very long. That is NOT what they are made to do, so if you're a Zack Brown wannabe, buy yourself a nice heavy-duty plywood guitar that can take the abuse. If you enjoy playing fingerstyle or classical music, with a gorgeous guitar, they are worth every penny.
