Having played several of the "Pablo Package" guitars, I can attest to the great tone and comfort that John works into each guitar. It's amazing to me that I can even play a guitar with a 16" lower bout, but it's doable with all of the special stuff John and Paul have created.

And I can't believe you were able to talk him into figured maple! I thought John's desire for ebony or something would prevail. But figured maple will be beautiful!

And you even played the Big Brazilian Gun with a 16 7/8” LB!

No leg up needed with the big body and not too far of a reach with the 12 fret neck and Short Scale…

John is looking at the woods in his hands and I am extrapolating from afar…

Here is the back binding on our Maple/WRC Round Peak

The outside purflings on this new one will be maple/dark/maple, so kind of reverse of this pic. Which will make sense with the dark body, and the Cocobolo center strip.

Playing this one for a senior residence today. NO AMP

And none needed. Thank goodness, since no musician parking and about a half mile schlep to the performance space…

Fortunately I am blessed with loud pipes and plenty of breath to keep up with the VOLUME this beast can produce.

And it sounds sweet and inviting at a whisper, too.

John found some flamey maple veneer and is laminating the purfling.
Once again, his experienced clamps go to work on my behalf…

He says the inner slice will be bloodwood, which will go well with the Bubinga.

I expect it will “measure up”. Haha

Meanwhile, the Big Brazilian Gun (BBGun) is headed back to me after a nice tuneup at John’s…

He told me a dear friend who tunes pianos professionally was so smitten with the BBG he wanted to take it home. That is high praise and the BBG is certainly worthy of it!!!

Hold the presses! Change of plan.
Due to a problem with the back, John has made a new back from the same filch and has graciously let me talk him into Flame Maple bindings. There will be a lot of bindings with the three bevels. Upper back, angled armrest, and mini on the cutaway. And the soundport…

Walnut back and sides on this. John says my Bubinga is a bit more reddish. Still, this one knocks me out.

The top border purfling on this one is black and white Ebony.

My top border purfling will have spalted Maple from John’s yard. So the top border will be similar but slightly lighter in color

And the cutaway will be rounded, (Venetian, sp?) And slightly beveled, I hope!
