After owing this wonderful guitar for two or so years, I just noticed an asymmetry in the bout depths, and wonder if this is what a Manzer Wedge might be.
FB says their bout depth is 4.25" - with no distinction between the upper and lower. My guitar has an upper bout of 3 3/4" at its narrowest (by the neck), 3 7/8" maximally in the middle, and a lower bout depth of 4 1/4", maximally. Thus a 1/2" differential. I purchased the guitar used, and do not recall any mention of this asymmetry. I surely am not complaining. This H12 is probably the easiest guitar to play that I own. Is this asymmetry typical of FB's, or is mine a unicorn? Thanks, David

That sounds like a normal taper as you would find on most acoustics... most have a consistent depth from the tail block to the waist or thereabouts, and then tapers to the neck block.
A "wedge" (Manzer or otherwise) would involve the the bass side being shallower than the treble side: ![]()

I no longer own an H12, but my C, M and K all measure:
3-5/8 4-1/8 4-1/4 Manzer is tapered as Warfrat shows above. My Sexauer is tapered 3/8” like that.

As others have said, that’s completely normal. It would be abnormal for a guitar to have a flat back (i.e., the same depth at the neck block and the tail block. Check your other guitars (I assume you still have the Spohn and perhaps some others).

Thanks all, and to Warfrat73 for that image of the Manzer Wedge very helpful.

Yes, it is totally abnormal. In fact, it may infect your other guitars. Send it to me and I will dispose of it for you...
You can thank me later.
