Scam posing to be collections dept of FedEx

The “collections alert” letter that I received on Saturday stating that I have an outstanding past due balance of $452.30 even has the official FedEx logo on it. They even got the logo colors right. The letter directs me to pay by phone or by check to a FedEx PO Box in Pittsburgh, PA, or even make a payment online at fedex.com/payment.

I immediately suspected that this was a scam, and my wife was sure it was a scam. She told me just to ignore it.

The first thing that occurred to me was to go to a legitimate FedEx website and try to contact customer service. I’m pretty sure that would result in wait on hold forever to speak to someone who doesn’t speak English.

I brought the letter to work with me today and stopped at the FedEx office that’s close to where I work, and they verified that it’s a scam.
