Record store days concert photos....
***** I'VE ADDED SOME MORE - SCROLL DOWN ****
From '79 to '87 I ran a small record store and I must say looking back it was VERY good times. One thing that was special was we sold concert tickets for several Michigan venues and I typically handled the "closeout" of the funds when the shows were approaching....and got to go to a lot of them as well. This whole process made me wild for live music, and I traveled a ton to see live music as well. Out of state festivals, I'd schedule trips around seeing favorite artists in small venues in places I wanted to visit. This activity carried on a few years after those days. Last night I went through an old suitcase that had a lot of 8 by 10's I'd had developed from those days.....came upon a few that stood out and thought I'd post a few and start a thread for everyone else to do the same. There are MANY more, but these were worth scanning/digitizing and posting.

Nice pics Todd!
Love the Hedges with his harp guitar, and Tony Rice with the CW large hole Martin. That guitar is a piece of history for sure.

Tony signed that one for me (on the guitar) but it faded quite a bit over the years. I have a 16 by 20 of a different (better) shot that he and Wyatt both signed with a sharpie!

Those are SO cool, Todd.
Me, I'm equally impressed that you ran a record store "back when." A few years after graduating college, when I finally got enough discretionary income to start building a record collection, those places were my favorite hangouts. Just sitting here writing this I'm getting memories flooding back of my favorite Austin record stores, circa 1969 through 1975: Discount Records on the Drag, Inner Sanctum, the arrival of Half Price Books & Records, then much later Tower Records and the rise of Waterloo Records (where they did host a lot of performers). Good times. Thanks for sharing the photos! Dirk

I can still smell the Gonesh #7 incense and Ozium As I told Andre, there are a LOT more pics. Each one has quite a story behind it!

I miss small independent record stores, spending time going through the bins. I did that a lot! Thanks for sharing your memories.

Even running the store, I made my "treks" around other stores in the state that had large cutout bins - one of my favorite ways to score great music!

Thanks guys - it was definitely a fun time for me.
Hoping to re-create some of that activity soon! I've got 3rd row seats for both May Erlewine and the Doo Wop Project in the next few weeks.

I've started scanning more pre-digital photos and will have many more, but I just came across these classics....
Probably around 87 or so at Sully's in Southfield MI - maybe 200 people tops in attendance, and The Good Doctor....that was a fun night! Hot Rize at The Ark in Ann Arbor about the same time - Alison Krauss opening that night - before anyone had heard of her!. And the one and only DAWG! A little TR guitar face - he always did that little "lip curl" when he played something fiery! A young John Gorka, and David Wilcox in his mullet and Lowden phase! Jorma Kaukonen in about '88 or so

Terrific set of pics again Todd.
The Gibson SG is often overshadowed by the Les Pauls and Strats, but it sure belongs in the world of iconic electric guitar models.
