Default Sound hole damage???

Hey everyone. I picked up a 1965 epiphone 12 string ft165 bard for free. Needs total restoration. Already got the neck support stiffened and everything. Only thing now is the sound hole damage. Is there any fixing this? Was thinking of cutting it out and placing a new sound hole piece there with supports underneath. Is cut mid inlay so that the new inlay would hide the repair. What are your thoughts on the best way to fix this?
