Default Sides

These sides are pretty spectacular. I've gotten to see some closeups of them with simulated finish as we've discussed soundport options and they are going to be stunning...

Everything looks great so far, I really like the way the rosette turned out and the binding choice was primo. Great job.

Default Neck...

Steve and Ryan suggested a koa neck. We used it to sandwich some macassar:

Default Plates, FB/Bridge, and Headstock

Plates at roughly their final shape:

After going back and forth quite a bit (I originally thought I wanted a padauk fingerboard even though it drew a not subtle eyebrow rise from Steve and Ryan) we settled on Texas Ebony for the Fingerboard and Bridge. Though it has lots of letters similar to the word 'ebony' in its scientific name (Ebenopsis ebano), it is not a true ebony and is actually in the pea family, but exhibits ebony-like characteristics with a Janka hardness of over 2800:

And the fingerboard and bridge complete:

For the headplate we discussed macassar, texas ebony, celebes ebony, and a few different koa options. I ended up leaving it up to Ryan and he came up with what was the final:

I'll second that. The headplate reminds me of the torch lit during the Olympics opening ceremony.
