Given what you've played, that's incredible.

Believe me, I know the emotional (and financial) investment that accompanies a commission like this, and so many instruments don't reach the (usually) unrealistic aspirations set for them by their new owner.
Even though you're still on "honeymoon", I'd wager you'll still be saying this in a few years time; a great result!

Nice playing, but we all knew that was coming...

Cheers,
Steve

Lovely to hear this guitar, your playing/assessment and John's comments. All the things I love about the custom made guitar process - the thoughtfulness on both the player and luthier's part in the planning and the willingness to be surprised with the outcome and where that journey leads the musician and the builder. usb_chord - looks like this is the beginning of a great musical adventure for you. Congratulations!

BTW - I appreciated what you shared about how many of John's guitars that you have played over the years. Following the evolving path of a builder is a real treat and then to have one of their creations built for you makes it even more special.

Best,
Jayne

Recorded the 00 again a couple weeks ago! It hasn't changed a ton since I got it earlier this year and MAN...I hope it never does! It just has the perfect amount of everything. Amazing dynamic range, bass response, mids, treble and a very malleable voice.

I may do a wider E to E spaced nut at some point to get a bit more width between the E and A and B and E strings on the 2 5/16" saddle. It'll bring the risk of pulling strings off the side of the board, but I doubt it'll be a big issue. I've been contemplating doing an ebony nut!

I cannot BELIEVE that 00-28 is still at Dream. If I could afford it i'd be all over it. That thing is nuts. The marcona almonds ...of guitars.

So beautiful, Brian! You and the 00 were meant for each other.

Great video! I love Mr. Unger’s arrangement and you play it with such wonderful freedom. And that guitar sounds beautiful! Thanks, Dave

Really nice playing! Along with the thumb pick, are you using something on your fingernails?

Thank you! I'm trying my best to do this thing justice, though admittedly, it's tough!

Well, it has been a year since I started this thread. I've gotten a couple PMs inquiring about the guitar since my last post here. Apologies for the delay; life got in the way.

In short, I remain smitten! If I had to say one thing changed over the last year, I guess *maybe* the attack is a bit rounder? Honestly, this thing was a bit of a "completed work" for me soon as it arrived, Day. One.

The first vid is part of an etude I worked up in attempts to gain a little more right hand independence. The second is just a little quick improv I recorded for this thread a few mins ago -

Killer playing. Killer guitar. I own its 000 cousin, so I think I have a decent idea what it sounds like in person.
