I totally agree with beninma's post #15. Well, almost totally. There is at least one online guitar instruction outfit that teaches to recognize pivot fingers that are left in place during chord changes. Here's an example (start at about 4:18), but he points this out for every chord progression that he teaches:

Here's D/Cadd9/G that keeps the ring finger engaged as the pivot through the entire progression.

BTW, if you peruse the lessons that are listed on the site, you might notice that there are very few lessons for specific songs. I find this to be very interesting. I gotta admit that often I enjoy noodling more than playing a famous song. Working through these lessons stretches my technique, my chops, and my noodling vocabulary.
