I owned the same 3 Martins for about a decade: HD28V(Adi), D18GE, and OM28V. I hardly ever played the OM; it paled in comparison to the Ds. At some point, I got serious about picking with my fingers instead of a flatpick. Now the OM is my favorite guitar, even though I still like the Ds every bit as much as I did before.

I'm tossing up wether her to install a pickup or not. Been inspired to try alternate/open tunings with it.

I had a similar experience with a Martin 000-17 a few years ago.

I found one in a pawnshop, and I was really excited to find I might actually be able to buy.

I tuned it up and played it, and I very underwhelmed with it.

I had a dull lifeless sound that was not inspiring at all.

Just to know, I asked how much they take for cash out the door right now.

They said they'd make me a deal since a customer had bought it and returned it.

The told me they'd take $800 out the door.

I said thank you and left.

I'd have taken it for $400 out the door just to flip it, but I wasn't about to pay $800 for that guitar.
