Default Since We Met (Cover-Tommy Emmanuel)

http://soundcloud.com/gibbyguy/sets/hummingbird-songsI've been working on this for a while since I got my 64 Hummingbird back.
A few mistakes here and there. Let me know your thoughts.
I love Tommy's Angelina too.

Tommy Emmanuel songs are quite ambitious and you did a fine job on Since We Met. I enjoyed it!

Thanks alot Steve. Tommy's songs are very intricate. It takes me about three days or better for me to get the basics of His positioning, then another three or four to get to playing it up to his speed, that is if I practice at least 2 hours a day on just that song.

Listening to your The Weary Kind. I like your voice and finger style accompanies very well.

Thanks Kerbie, I recorded that song in a bit of a hurry. Since then I have improved on it. I recorded it again, I'll probably replace the song on Soundcloud with the new recording.

Thanks, Ed

Gibby, nice job on a great song. Its funny I am not usually attracted to dryer sounding instruments but as I grow older I appreciate them a lot more. I guess that's why we need more than one instrument. This Gibson has that great woody sound without being muddy. The melody stood apart just fine. I sure you have years of enjoyment ahead of you with this heirloom.

Nice I really like the sound of the guitar. I think you did a good job of playing, not only on this one song, but all of them

Gibby,
This sir was lovely. Just as peaceful and easygoin' as can be, played wonderfly with just the right touch. Sounded like you were into it and having fun. I like when that comes thru...the bird btw sounds very sweet thanks for sharing that, hope to hear more!

Thanks Rick, I recorded it a second time and posted it to the same link. It would be great to hear folks give a comparison between the two takes.

Thanks,
Ed

Thanks GG, I used to record with way too much reverb, chorus, delay, and.....

I agree about hearing the more woody sound. I love it, it seems more pure.
Actually I recorded this with two SM57 mics one 12" in front of sound hole, the other positioned halfway down the neck about 10" away from the fret board. Both mics also picked up some of the effects of my Fender Acoustasonic that I played it through. Rather than driving the sound through the amp and mic'ing the amp, I tried a more remote approach. I like the sound. Recorded on a Fostex 4 track digital recorder, then mixed down to Garage band, then imported into my Itunes.
Thanks, Ed

Thank you Barefooter, I've fallen in love with a guitar which slept in a case for the last 30 years.
Thanks, Ed

Thanks Noledog,
DIDDO......on the sweet tone.
Nice sweet tone and it's now gettin some playing time, around 2-3 hours a day.
My dad had played this 'bird in taverns and such back in the 60's, then He played it sporadically. He left this life in a car accident back in '79. I've cherished this baby and now it's even more sweeter. I wouldn't take $10K for this guitar.
Thanks, Ed
