Default Great Video! "The Guitars of Early Blues"

This has probably been posted before. But I did a search and could not find it on the forum.
Really well done. Enjoy!

Excellent video and a great reminder of what type of gear it takes to make great music.

My first guitar was a Stella (aka "Finger Bleeder") that I purchased for the princely sum of five dollars. That same guitar is selling for $100-200 these days!

With Black Diamond strings to get the full effect, of course.

Because "There can be no great art without suffering" as somebody probably said once.

Enjoyed that. Probably nothing that most of us haven't been exposed to, but a very good summary.

As I recall, yes.

Fun video but some of the same misinformation shows up that has been floating round for many years such as the Schmidt Company supplied Sears with guitars. Sears did not need a supplier as they owned Harmony (the House brand was Supertone). In fact I believe the Schmidt Company did not supply any mail order catalog business with guitars although they did provide them to music store chains and music publishing companies. The Schmidt Company itself would provide you with a free guitar if you subscribed to their mail order music lessons.

Here are a couple I have laying around.

A Schmidt "Westbrook" Stella.

A Schmidt-made Galiano Jumbo

"Mother-of-toilet-seat". LMAO. Made my day (sometimes I'm easy that way)!

The house brand was Silvertone. Sears owned Harmony until 1940, when it again became an independent company. After that, I believe both Harmony and Kay supplied acoustic guitars to Sears under the Silvertone brand.
