Want to record my Bose system.
Have a Bose L1 Compact System and like the sound so much I want to record it. What I want to do is this:
Taylor GC3 with sound hole pickup --> HOF Reverb --> Bose L1 --> AKG C214 --> Apogee Duet 2--> Apple Logic. I may add a Zoom A3 in front of the reverb if it becomes necessary. Note I'm mic'ing the Bose speaker system, not the guitar directly since that's the sound I'm trying to capture. Will try it first with the one mic and decide later if I want to use two mics. I know mic placement will be the key. Other than editing the tracks for mistakes I'm going to try to not add any effects except maybe some slight EQ, slight compression, etc. if needed. Want to get the best sound possible at the point of capture. Going to record "wet" since I really like the sound of the HOF reverb. Solo fingerstyle stuff, no voice. Any thoughts? |

All depends on mic placement and the room you are using. Personally, I think micing the guitar, than adding EQ, reverb etc in your DAW is the method for best sound, but if you want captured L1 sound, then go for it!

That's the way I always do it with good results. Just wanna see what I can come up with by micing the Bose. Worth a try anyway! Probably tomorrow. |
