Gypsy guitars do that as well Juston (10th fret). I think it is a banjo carryover...

Agreed! It's amazing much moving one marker one fret confuses me.

As Bob has pointed out, Maccaferri did the same and the pattern likely derives from its use on banjos.

Did the Larson Bros ever build guitars with Koa? Just curious. That New Era guitar looks spectacular.

First other wordly fiddle back mahogany, now super curly koa? I'm speechless.

You will not find finer looking koa than whatcha' got.

Not so far as I know. But, Carl Larson did build a couple of koa ukes/taro patch instruments.

My Froggy Bottom is Koa bodied with a spruce top and it’s a wonderful combination. The back is slightly arched, similar to the Larsons, but Michael doesn’t call it built under tension.

I’m looking forward to hearing how your New Era turns out. If anyone can capture the Larson magic it’s Tony.
